On September 19, 19398 a MR. DANA HOGAN, Room 6204, Bilt- re
more Hotel, telephoned advising that he is Chairman of the Dis— Me .
tinguished Guest Committee of the American Legion and that he was
anxious to get in touch with you in order that an aide could be
essigned to you for the purpose of escorting you to the Commander's *
Dinner for Distinguished Guests on the night of the 19th. After my
conversation with MR. HOGAN, MR. TOLSON called the office and I con-
veyed this message to him.
MR. CHARLES FORD of the Republic Studios also telephoned
on the morning of the 19th, stating that he would appreciate ny
telling you or MR. TOLSON that if you had time he would like to have
you telephone him. MR. TOLSON was also subsequently advised of this.
dn WR, HARRY TANNER, Vice-President of the Los Angeles Ad- yt

venturer's Club, telephoned on the morning of the 19th stating that -
the Adventurer's Club and the Board of Supervisors for los Angeles >
County were giving a dinner in honor of Mayor-elect FLETCHER BOWRON A\
of Los Angeles and DOUGLAS CORRIGAN, the trans-Atlantic flyer, on \ v4
the eveninz of September 20th at the Biltmore Hotel. MR. TANNER ex-
{ tended a cordial invitation to you and your party to attend this
function as guests of the les Angeles Adventurer's Club. He stated
that many of the outstanding citizens and public officials of los 4

Angeles would be in attendance at this dinner. I subsequently con-
veyed this message to MR. TOLSON and when he informed me that it
would not be possible to accept this invitation, I so notified
MR. TANNER.
On the 19th, MR. W. P. HENTRY, Chief of Polise at the
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studio in Culver City, telephoned stating that
he would like to be remembered to you and to MR. TOLSON, adding
d again that he wondered if it was going to be possible for you to
visit them at the M.G.M. lot. Again he reiterated that he knew
MR. MANNIX would like to have you and your party at a luncheon.
MK. TOLSON was advised of this by telephone.
