Mr. Tamm stated he had telked to Mr. Nathan and they have a good lead on the woman and the indicstions ere that she returned to Europe and not to Florice. Mr. Hoover stated to have Mr. Nathan remain in New York. 4 Mr. Tamm stated Mr. Whitley had come to Washington; that cer recal Gmits dictating the first letter and is very much frightened and states Hs in just as a joke; that Judge tin tells a straightforward story to the effect ‘that he asked) Crooks if he should fire the woman at once but that Crooks stzted he thought it’ just a joke and was so foolish that it shou:c not be brought to § the attention of the Chief Justice. Mr. Tamm stated he had told Whitley and A Loebl to write an excellent V8RSFing no stone was left unturned. Mr. Hoover stated to have Whitley stand by while the report was submitted to Mtr. Carusi for any” further ecti-n which the Attorney General might wish to take. Mr. Hoover stated to have itt. Nathan look over the New York office. . s tr. Tamm mentioned the fact that Col. Riggs had been killed at San Juan and steted that the Agents hed left the island. Mr. Tamm suggested that the resuits of the preliminary survey in the island be sent to the Attorney General and Mr. Hoover agreed. ‘ Mr. Tamm advised kr. Hoover about the telephone tep which had been established by Brantley on Burrhead\Keady whe wac taken into custody by the Post Office authorities whe consider Keady a Karpis contact. Tamm stated Mr. Dewey advised a confession had been secured from the at Hopkinsville, Kentucky that he wrote s in the Robinson case. Mr. Hoover stated to tell Mr. Ladd to advise the Chicago Tribume of the results. Mr. Tamm stated a memorandum had been received from Assistant Attorney General Dickinson rejuesting that an Agent be assigned to conduct an examination of certain\Interior Department files. Mr. Tamm stated that Agent Plucmer is in bad shape and will not be able to work for several months...
