Mr. Tamm advised Mr. Hoover of Mr. onnelley's call at 8:30P.M.
wr. Tam stated that the man in Vancouver is not Dainards that the manis an.
individual that they regarded as suspicious; that the man had a safe deposit —

investigated but that they did not think the man was Dainard; that the
Assistant Chief of Paice talked to the Consul General about the matter; that
the Consul General stated that precautionary measures should be teken by having
some papers there in the event this man turns out to be Dainard; that the
“police were 50 sure that the gan was not Dainard that tney did wot notify ou
Portland office; that the Consul General went ahead on his own initiative
and asked that the papers be sent up. Mr. Hoover instructed Ihr. Tam to :
have Mr. Connelley arrange with the Consul General to ee the Portland o! office

he has not received any report because the Agents would report it to him,

that he, Mr. Hoover, will call in sometime this mornings that Mr. Tamm should
tell them further that he, Mr. Tamm, kmows that there could not have been

General put on at which time he would advise the Attorney General that the
whole thing was washed out.
