Mrs,\Beck, who said she is principal of an elementary school in
Arlington, Virgihia, telephoned at 4:45 P.M. August 4. She said $65.00 was 99
stolen from the wallet of a secretary and the wallet was found hidden in a
washroom at the school. She described it as a smooth, black wallet which
was wrapped in a paper towel when found. She said an Arlington Police
officer who investigated the case was of the opinion latent fingerprints could

_ Mrs. Beck asked me whether such objects yield latent fingerprints.
I told her we could not tell without seeing the articles, but since this was a
— police case being investigated by the Arlington Police, it was a matter entirely —
| within the jurisdiction of the police. I explained that our fingerprint facilities
i are available to all law enforcement agencies in connection with their official
ahd investigations, so we would be glad to honor a request from the police to
— examine the evidence. She said she was not satisfied with one officer's opinion
os: and thought she would telephone the Identification Bureau at Arlington Police
— or someone in authority at the Police Department. .
