Night Suvervisor, P. Be. Smith, has advised me that at
2:30 Ael’., November 23, 1943, the switchboard operator called and
advised that the above-named party was calling on the "kidnap*
number, National 7117. ‘hen Azent Smith was connected the above-
$72 — named party said, "Better come down here ina hurry, this is an
: } emergency call." Before Smith could secure any further information
fr he hung up. The Washingtop operator checked and found that
the call came from Metropolitan 7302 ,f ings Restaurant, 622 H Street. ©
A call wes mac2 to this number and an individual identifying herself as a
waitress came to the phone. She stated that an intoxicated sailor had been
using this phone to call the FBI, the Police Department and the Shore Police.
Nothing further was done in connection with this call.
