I deeply regret thet I did not have the opvortunity to discuss
with you the matter of your resignation, on. Dehnalf of youreolf and the
Federal Bureau of Twestigation, from tho-International Crisinal Police
Corralesion. Since I wes uneble to speak with you in person, I went into
the uatter in some detail with your doputy, Hr. Hugh Clegg. He has advised
ue that your decision is irrevocable.
I sincerely rovret this wifortunate Incident and I an deeply
concerned to kmow that you feel the action taken by you is irrevocable,
\whitever your decision may be with reference to your nenbership end that of
the Federal Bureau of Investigation, I propose, in the light of the facte
bow known to me, to prouptly bring about a correction of all of the matters
iwhich you ecowolained of, which occurred as the rosult of improvident action
\besed upon inaccurate information by other officers of the Commission. I
will take such action, not because I seek in this manner to secure your
future cooperation, but because I believe that these errors should be
