Duclouz, and tactfully explain to hin .hat the FBI could not, on account of the nature of the matertal, etther vouch for the accuracy of the facts or mare recoanendations as to prliteation. The Leqal Attache was told to advise Diclour of the jurisciction of the FEI and our tne ability to be of assistance in matters of this nature. Py cableqgran dated April 14, 1950, the Leqal Attache, Poris, stated that the Bureau's position was tactfully caplained to Duclouz but that the latter still desired to publish the Los Angeles crime story. Duciouxr requested that the FBI authorize him to communicate cirectly with the Chief of Police, Los Angeles, in order to check facts in the story.
