THE FOREIGN SERVICE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AMERICAN EMBASSY — OFFICE OF Tor ATT CUD ae ee air Fi wikis | PARIS, FRANCE April 6, 1947 Director, FBI ; RE: INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL POLICE cOlISSION Dear Sir: During recent conversations with Konsieur LOUIS DUCLOU:, Secretary General of the International Criminal Folice Commission, he has repeatedly inoujred whether the Director would accept their invita- tion to the June 1947 conference to be held in Paris. I have been advised that the invitatione have already been extended both directly from the Commission headquarters as well as via diplomatic channels. I have naturally made no commitments whatsoever, but have pointed out that the Director is extremely occupied and so far as I knew has never been able to absent himself to attend conferences or conventions abroad, - “Colonel LOUIAS SE, President of the Commission, as well as Wonsieur DUCLOUX, are, of course, most anxious that the Directcr attend or at léast send a representative, pointinz out that the United States, as the greatest world power, and the Bureau, as the most respected law-enforcement agency, would contribute greatly to the prestice of the Commission by beinz represented at the June conference, and, would create greater interest in the Commission on the part of other nations in the Western Hemisphere. ‘om I have agreed with Kk. DUCLOUX to query the Bureau regardinz its intentions, and would appreciate being advised. C nd 22 “oh ial RECO very truly Pour he ° Pv “WoT ireb 7 - Ae eae damien A Un allRe p Tee EE a
