It was pointed ———_— i out to the Conference that it was sugcested in this letter that the Bureau take step to have established in the United States a central office to rag) B er which alY international inquiries of a general nature could be channeled, { “¢ 4 ° “It was her pointed out that various European Police Departments were ~ mI requesting inquiry in the United States and that at the present tine, there > was no central clearing house for this information, It was suggested to the Conference that rather than have the IC set up a clearing house of that kind /- ia in the United States, which might be operated either in IACP or in some other ‘ group, that a letter be directed to Ducloux advising him that the Bureau would agree to handle all inquiries and that an efticle-could be published in the. — Law Enforcement Journal advising the Po Ge Departments in this country that inquiries which they desired in Europe’could be directed to the Bureau and that the Bureau would forward them to the International Commission in Europes 7 t Ae So It was suggested to the Conference that any inquiries from European Police -\. Departments within the United States could be handled by the Bureau if-of sufficient importance and if not, could be related to the appropriate State or Police Agency for handling with a request that their report be transmitted back to the Bureau who, in turn, would transrit it to the IC. a ~ The Conference also suggested that these inquiries be handled /¢ | through the SIS Section or the SIS Desk, it being pointed out that there will be'a need for one Supervisor to continue to handie foreign mattzrs and that this particular desk could handle these inquiries, The Conference was unanimously | in favor of this recommendation.
