COPY: CLL, 7-17-52 . @ + . : Y woe Bye oF Noe eee . :@ } Mr. Tolson April 2, 1951 L. B. Nichols By reference from the Director's office, at 12:55 P.M. 57 today of warner Brothers telephoned from New York and advised he had.just come in from the coast and had seen the finished filn, : 'I Was a Communigt Soy for the FBI." This is the film based on e Matt Cvetic case. GE sated he wanted the Director to know that he he nN had ~ a> just come down from the projection room with tears in his eyes; that this was a great film and he felt it could do more good than all of the money in the world and that he would like the Director to see it either in New York or in Washington, and that, of course, he would want to have the Director see of it on the quiet with no publicity attached whatsoever. Cy stated he would be glad to come to Washington aN with the film if the Director would Like to see it, as the A Director may have some ideas of his own on the film. He said oN _ the picture is to have its furst public showing in Pittsburgh on ane _ April 19th, and while he repeatedly said he wanted no publicity, it is obvious that he would like to get the Director's reaction to the film. He asked to be d back t Warner Brothers office in New York, or at the oe he has Apartment in New York City. It is recommended that we tell Gana, in view of the Director's schedule and commitments at the present time, it would be impossible to see the film at any specific time but if they want to send a print as his representatives have told us Director will try to see it.
