HIGHLANDER RESEARCH AND
EDUCATION CENTER
KX T-2, who has furnished reliable information in the
past, advised that LOUIS BUDENZ, admitted former editor of the
"Neily Worker", en East Coast Communist newspaper, and former
official of the Communist Party, advised on November 21, 1952,
that the Highlander | Folk School was pro-Ccmmunist. BUDENZ

The October 8, 1961, issue of The Knoxville Newe-Sentine
a local daily newspaper published at Knoxville, Tennessee, cone
tained an article reflecting the Highlander Folk School had
announced plans for a similar schceol at Knoxville to be located
at 1625 Riverside Drive. The article identified MYLES HORTON
as Director of Highlander.
The Desernber 17, 1961, issue of The Knoxville News-

Sentinel contained an article reflecting that on December 16,
1961, assets of Highlander Folk Schcol, Monteagle, Tennessee,
were auctioned by the State of Tennessee under a ccurt decree
after the school was convicted of violating three Tennessee
laws and failed in appeals to the State and United States
wupreme Courts.
The July 8, 1962, issue of The Knoxville News-Sentine])
contained an article reflecting the land on which I Highlander
