Pamphlet distributed by Highiander Folk School, Monteagle, Tenn., entitled "Highlander Clippings" contains excerpts from newspaper articles reporting the visit of lives, ELEANOR ROOSEVELT at Highlander on 6/17/58 and also items concerning the 25th Anniversary of the school. One item in this pamphlet contains an excerpt of an address by KING. This item is headed "The Look to the Future": by MARTIN LUTEZR KING, Jr., Montgomery Ala.;' (an address deli- vered at the 25th Anniversary of HFS, Honteagle, Tenn,, Labor Dey 9/2/57) (transcribed from a tape recording). Chattanooga News-Free Press, Chattanooga, Tenn., in — issue 9/29/59 contained a news item reporting that HFS, whose main educational building head been padlocked as a "public - auisance" was trying to organize a "protest" by "friends" to — the Ten_2ssee Governor, It was reported that earlier in the sonth Highlander was found to have been selling beer to minors and adults without a license. It was reported the Rev. 5S, S&S. SEAY, Negro Executive Secretary of the Montgomery Improvement Acsociation, Montgomery, Ala., had condemned the padlocking. It was noted in the article that KING was president of this association.
