PGIERANCE is Chairuen of the Grecnwich Chapter of the PCA collected was spproximately twelve thousand dollars. Ur. WALLACE opened his speech by stating thatainee Connecticut had established the three per cent, sales tax, his wife seldon shopped in Connecticut although they live just over the line. He remarked that special mention should be made of the wrk of Cheater 4. Bowles in his attenpt to continue price cm- trols. He described the late Ficrela LaGuardia as a great humanitarian, whose Geath had been the biggest loss to the United States since the death of the late President Roceeyelt. He then deseribed the wheat crops in the thited States and the Zaropian countries and criticized the State Department for playing poli- tica with the food situation in Europe. WALLACE advocated aid to Europe ani recommended the passage of the bill for eight billion dollars to furnish this aid. He atated, however, that the aid should be grented fre emi there should be no attempt to dictate the internal politics of any country in which the people wre « WALLACE remarked that the MANSHALL Plen had appeared good to him at first, but stated that the State Department with its policies had undermined this Plan to such an extent that it was now valueless. WAILACE mentioned the fact that the publicly announced formation of an international "clearing house for the exchange of information" by the Communist parties of the countries of Eastern Zurope had been branded a new Comintern by the press. WALLACE stated that it was merely an indication to him of the split which haa developed between the United States and Rusaia in thoir attempt to establish world pease, He made the remark that this was merely a symptom of the aplit and not the cause. stated that while both the United States and Rusafia hed won the peace they were preparing for war, He called upon the State Department of the United States to issue a clear statement on the differences which exist between the United States —-
