On January 5, 1949, advised during the Be Cl ~
interview that HANNS EISLER and BERT BRECHT are presently in the Russian
Sector of Berlin living at the Hotel Adlon on the Unter der Linden. Ao _
Informant had no knowledge of the activities of BRECn?T and EISLER,
but concluded from their mere presence there “eating scarce food" in the
Russian Sector that they must be there for sone purpose of the Russian
authorities. Ctherwise, according to informant, they simply would not be
there. Informant pointed out that several months ago BRECHT had been uneble
to get inte Germany, although he was trying at the time. Informant stated
