SYMPICNESE LIBERATION ARMY TACTICAL SUPPORT UnTtTs ee To successfully fight the enemy, urban guerrillas must be organized into two main categories. The first is the combat unit, whose main responsibility is to fight. The second 1s the tactical support unit, whose primar objective is to insure the success and survival of the combat unit. Without fighters, the people would be defense- less against fascism and there would be no revolutiona war, and without support there would soon be no fighters. Each depends upon the Other for its survival and freedon. Each cell of the Symbionese Liberation Arny's tactical support units may be composed of elements of other organi- zations and grouos as well as individuels. Tactical supvort can be provided in many categories and on many different levels. In some instances, &@ group of ag many @s 10 versons may make up a tactical support cell. Other units may have 4s few as one individual. Categories of tactical support are: Medical: Treatment of injured, sick and wounded. Education and training in emergency medical treatment. Armory: Maintenance, repair and development of weapons, ammunition and explosives. Intelligence Surveillance: Research, infiltration and preliminary operational surveillance. Communtcations: Inter-cell communications between combat forces and between combat celis and tactical support units. Study and form- lation of secure communication methods. Propaganda: uriting, printing and distribution on a mass level the propaganda of the guerrilla forces. Supply: Procurement and distribution of arms, ammuni- tion, explosives, clothing, food, tools, noney, ete. Transportation: Purchase and expropriation of vehicles. Development of other means of guerrilla mobility. Safe Houses: Rental, purchase and the maintenance and preparation of house security. Expropriation: Taking by lllegal means, money, arms, ammunition, explosives and other materials from the eneny.
