Revolutionary Union (RU) _ Organized in early 1968 in the San Francisco, ~ -@Mlifornia, area, the RU has had a continuing growth in tenns of members and activities. This semicovert organization now has 700-S00 mem: bers organized into collectives in some 30 cities, The RU also operates over 100 fronts or publica- tions within the United Staies. The RU's objective is to ‘‘smash’’ the exist- ing State appuratus through violent revolution and oreanized armed struggle. The RU now considers its most important short-range objective to be the formation of the party of the working class, the Revolutionary Communist Party of the U.S.A. (RCPUSA). Weather Underground The revolutionary Weather Underground con- tinued its terrorist activities against the Govern- ment and private enterprise during Fiscal 1975. Conlinuing to advocate Marxist-Leninist theory, the Weather Underground has claimed credit in the past vear for the explosions at the Anaconda-American Brass Company, Oakland, Cal- ifornia, on September 10, 1974; the Department of State Building, Washington, D. C., on January 29, 1975; und the Banco de Ponce in New ¥pss City on June 16, 1975, This group also claimed the attempted bombing of the Federal Building in Oakland on January 29, 1975. ' The Weuther Underground issued a book, “Prairie Fire,’’ in the summer of 1974 which states in part: “Our intention is to disrupt the einpire. . .To incapacitate it, 16 pul pressure on the cracks, to make it hard to curry out its bloody functipn- ing against the people of the world, to join the world struggle, to attack from the inside.”’ : Another Weather Underground publication, “Osawatomie,’ issued in February, 1975, claimed credit for 25 Weather Underground bombings and siated Weather Underground would tein ““fie- wotks’' during the Bicentennial peried. _ The Weather Underground, including 23 fugi- lives, continues lo receive support from an above- eround apparatus. Through this support, and utili- zation of numerous tulse identities, these fusi- tives have managed to avoid apprehension, Bombing Matters The uwiawlul use of explosives represents u continuing threat to life and propert%, as well as amounting challenge to law enforcehient.
