With the knowledge of hindsight, it is apparent that at this juncture the SLA was planning a bank robbery with Patricia as the star of the bank security film. The anxiety provoking ambiguity of Patricia's captivity is resolved in this tape by a focused hatred of her father as the personification of her feelings of rejection. She projects her own guilt of manipulativeness and self interest upon her father. Her language has taken on the inflated meaninglessness of the love-hate dichotomy she has always felt toward her father. Under the social reinforcement of her captors, she has Simplified her world into the black and white of the good and ‘the evil, Neutrality” is rejected as the cause of uncertainty and the source of her fear.
