When she entered the house she asked CHRISTINE JOHNSON where her ceaughter vas and was Cola by JOHNSON that EMMA LEE was in the bedroom, sleep. CARR said when she went inside the bedroom and noticed thas the room wus dark, she told CHRISTINE and another girl at . the residence, BRENDA DANIELS, that she was golng to the store to get a light bulb. CARR steted that at this time she did not observe anyone else in the house. PRENOA DANIELS accompanied CARR to the store and while enroute, DARISLS told CARR there vere several white people in EMMA LEE's house, end that they had "shotguns, machine guns, end a lot of lupgare" CARR said BRENDA did not elaborate on the circumstances et that time, but CARR seid she was going to "pun ell the people out” when she returned. When they returned to the residence CARR asked JOMNSON about the information DANIFLS hac given her on the way to the store, JOURSCH abe bed tiat she had not planned to tell CARR, but that around 2:00 a.m., that morning, there was a knock at the front door and when: “she opened the door a male Negro said some- thing to the effect, nie are in trouble, we need a place to stay just for tonight, and we will give you wl OO to Let us stay" JOWISON tola EMMA LEN about the offer ond WAMA LEE said to Let hin into the house. At this time JOHNSON noticed that the Negro male was uccompanied by a small group of people.
