Approximately 4:30 to 5:00 p.m., May 16, 1974, he =
was standing in the driveway of THOMAS PATIN's residence, 2049
West Ll5th Street, and heard what he belleved to be many shots
being fired in the area of the shopping center at Imperial High-
way and Crenshaw Boulevard, south of his neighborhood, He
continued that the father of PATIN had been visiting his son and
was preparing to leave in his turquoise station wagon. At about
this time he observed a yellow car with a black top going east
on 115th Street, apparently stall in front of the PATIN's resi-
dence. A man got out of the passenger side of this vehicle and
approached the PATINs, This man said something to the effect,
“Sorry brother, we have to take your car. We're from the SLA,
give me the keys", This man was carrying what ip, believed to
be a machine gun, holding it in both hands witn ing over the
right shoulder,
SE: ::-; that the man said something to the effect
that they would not hurt the car -and that it would be returned by
the police, and was waving at two girls still in the yellow and
blaek car to join him, which they did. Both of the girls carried
similar weapons as to that of the male. , .
| ccrexiie that Mr. PATIN had been fumbling with his
keys and tinally gave the male his car keys. The male got in the
driver's scat of PATIN's station wagon, and the girls also got in
the car. He believed one got in the rear seat and the other got
in the front passenger seat. The male, backing the station wagon
out. of the driveway, proceeded east on 115th Street, and south on
Terron Street, which is the first street east off 115th Street.
GHEE: iviscs that he had found a cartridge (bullet)
that he believed the above male had dropped or ejected from his
gun, and had given this bullet to a uniformed officer, whom he
