Telaghene Bn. BANK RANCISCO, CALIFORNIA Dict Se'y — CBS, Washington, D. C., phone 296-1234, contacted my office é and advised that yesterday, 5/30/74, two young people, one male and one female, identities unknown, contacted their New York headquarters with a .16 mm film showing Patricia Hearst's participa-/: tion in the Hibernia Bank robbery in San Francisco, California. — n advised that these people were trying to sell this film to CBS for $20, 00U. iS He stated that he did not observe the film but that his people in New York advised’ that it looks very, very good to them; that it appears to be made from bank camera film and is a bit jerky in motion. GD sec that CBS was dubious |: _ ‘about buying this film and they were requesting at this time to obtain the original ~. film from the bank. AN 22 sone that within a day or two someone in the. _____ industry would purchase this film and show it on television. Therefore, he reasoned, that the Government may see fit to release the original film. He was > advised that the Bureau could not release this film as it is being held as evidence.,; Gf SAC Bates was contacted this date and he advised that the San Francisco Office had a film made from the stills taken during the Hibernia Bank robbery and that he would commence investigation to determine how many films were made and where they are at this time. He could furnish no explanation how these unidentified persons had received a copy of this film. ASAC Thomas Druken, San Francisco Office, advised that their offic had contracted with San Francisco, whom they have worked with before, to produce liims. hea vised that 6 films were produced, one was sent to the Bureau, SAC Henry Schutz has one in the New Yor Office, and San Francisco has four of the films secure in their office safe. P-fESCO- jf ASAC Druken stated that ED oifice also had a film which was cured in their office safe in the event that additional copies were needed.
