He more or less pretended to be a member. He never attended any SDS meetings. WEED feels he obtained the reputation of being a -member of the SDS because at ‘cre point while he was at _ Prineeten the ROTC challenged’ the SDS to a football game, _ SCS accepted and WEED played for game. WEED was asked to play in this game along with !i$. MACKEY? At the time, WEED advised he hada beard and definitely looked like he would fit: . the role of an SDS member. The SDS won the game over ROTC, and the ‘New York Times”. carried an article captioned some-. vthing to the effect of, "Bearded Quarterback Leads SDS". WEED advised he did.not know anyone at Princeton “who was renily radical in a sextous sense. Almost every morning at 3:00 a.m. DOUG SEATO! would ask WEED if he would like. to hcln him pass out SDS leaflets, but WEED always refused. WEED statcd that the SDS did stage three or four minor sit-ins. at Prine-iton. One he recalled was staged at the Institute for Defense: ‘Analysis (IDA), however WEED did not participate in this $8b-in. WEED advised he never met MARK RUDD, an SDS :- » Weathetman leader, or anyone affiliated with the Weatherman : ca” organization... WEED advised that the SDS did have a conference vive.
