Bates to Gebhardt Memo RE: HEARNAP Examination of the cassettes received in this case has been made and it was noted that bird and insect sounds were audible in the background. Scientific experts knowledgeable in such fields have been contacted in an effort to isolate the location from which such sounds could emanate. Tentatively identified were the sounds of tree frog which would not be located above a 2,000 foot altitude; sounds of a bird whose habitat is near fresh water and another indigenous to the California coast. Efforts are being made to identify the radio station which had broadcast that material to pinpoint the geographical area in which | the broadcast could be heard.
