c. SEIf Destruction: The critical problem in dealigg with the SLA is their
determination to commit suicide by establishing the conditions in
which their destruction at the hands of some-one else is inevitable.
The communications increasingly establish those conditions. Even
__Patricia has been drawn into the mutual suicide past. Cinque is acting «
the dominant male role posing for the women of the group. He mainaains |
dominance -so tong--as- he is-seen as the source of exoertise in crime, ———
action and courage. But his self guilt and posturing will not permit .
him to kill in cold blood. The group as a whole is not capable of
their own suicides unless engineered as the dramatic culmination. of
their indecisive lifes as a consequence of the actions of others which
they can rationalize as outside of their responsibilities. But they
remain in touch with reality and emphasize that contact in all of
their communications. They do not know-the solution that will rescue {
them from themselves, but they will welcome such a sojution when they
have played out their game or when they are finally made.aware of their
unavoidable personal responsibiligy for their acts ,
