I wondered _ what was in the letter so I told her to open it as I was beginning to _worry and the letter was substantially as follows: ‘Dear Barney, things. not going as good as they seem. SANDY then told me that apparently STEVE's real name was CARL.- I told her I had noticed the initials CAH and the words St. Joseph, Missouri, in his hatband while his hat was on the bed, SANDY put. the ‘letter back in her purse and told me she was not going to ; Los Angeles but that she was going to St. Joseph and check up on this BARNEY fellow and find out what this was all about.
