Dear Sirs
Reference is made to letter from the Detroit Office 'y
to the Atlanta Office dated April 2, 1936, entitled, EDWARD
EXTZ, with aliases, et al., BANK ROBBERY, which set "forth that

Bentz at the United States Penitentiary, Atlanta, on April 6, 1936,
in connection with the robbery of s bank at Grand Haven, Michigan, ”

On April i, 1956, a long distance telephone call was
received from Mr. Foxworth at the Bureau in connection with refer-
ence letter. Mr. Foxworth suggested that the Atlenta Office tact-
fully arrange to have a Speoial Agent of the Bureau present when
Bentz was being interviewed by Sergeant Hutson. He further sug-
ested that arrangements be made, if possible, whereby Bentz should
not be interviewed by any peace officers unless an Agent of the
Atlanta Office was present. Shortly after the telephone conversa-
tion with Mr. Foxworth, srrangements were made with Warden A, C.

is to interview Bentz unless an Agent of the Atlanta Bureau Office ~.
is present. This arrangement does not inolude relatives, In the —
event the Bureau desires these additional precautions be taken, it
is requested that the Atlanta Office be advised immediately.
Mr. Foxworth also suggeated in another telephones con-
versation that Bentz, when being interviewed by the Michigan officers,
might desire to discuss only the robbery of the Grand Haven, Michigan ‘
bank, I proceeded to the Penitentiary with Special Agent 4. M. Bott
where Bentz was personally interviewed, Bentz stated that he would
discuss the Grand Haven pank robbery with the Michigan officers
because his brother, Te mtz, had been convicted of the robbery
