Burns, however, was believed to be unaware of the true nature of the organization. (100-92879-24) In the early 1940's, Burns was reported to be a member of the Hollywood Democratic Committee, cited as a communist front by the California Senate Fact-Finding Committee On Un-American Activities in a 1948 report. In June, 1945, Burne was also listed as a member of the executive council of the Hollywood Indepena ! (HICCASP), successor to the Hollywood Democratic Committee.
