big early days as a singer, JZinatra was also reported te have

identified as a member of La Cosa Nostra and who owned a ep ET
night club in Atlantic City, New Jersey, a6 which Sinatra :
regularly performed. D'Amato and Sinatra were also
associated in the operation of the Cal Newa Lodge at Lake Tahoe,
Nevada, in the early 1960's.
Over the years, Sinatra has also been identified
as an sasociate of Balvatore “Sam" Giancana, the former
head of La Cosa ‘Rostra in Chicago. Giancana was ideatified
as a guest of Sinatra's at the Cal Neva Lodge on meveral
occasions in the early 1960's,
In October, 1963, Binatra announced that he would
not fight an attempt by the Nevada Gaming Commission to revoke
his gambling license at the Cal Nepa-Lodge. The Commission
had reportedly adught to revoke Sinatra's license on the
ground that he entertained “underworld figure” Sam Giancana
at the Cal Neva Lodge in the past. Sinatra was also forced

Ia June, 1969, Sinatra was subpoenaed to appear before
the New Jersey State Commission of Investigation which was
probing organized crime and corruption in New Jermey. Sinatra
refused to honor this subpoena and as a result, a warrant
citing him for civil contempt was issued. Sinatra was purged
ef this contempt after testifying before the Commission on
Yebruary 17, 1970, and the contempt citation Was disnissed
