Page 17, paragraph 1, of this testimony contained a petition filed with the committee by SMITH. This petition was entitled, "A Petition for Redress of ie Grievances and for an Investigation into Promoted Terrorism, / Z Denial of Civil Liberty, Conspiracy Against Freedom, Organ- ** ‘ ized Character Assassination, Corrupt Practi¢ee, Organized «) Rioting, etc.™ The part of SMITH's petition pertaining to ~ SINATRA is quoted as follows: "I petition this committee of Congress to investi- gate the activities:-of FRANK SINATRA who, on the sur- a face seems‘to be just a highTy paid emaciated cfooner, S but who recently gave support to a meeting of the American Youth for Democracy which held an elaborate banquet at the Hotel Ambassador in Los Angeles and which organization was recently branded by J.
