According to a November 21, 19),7, news article, Sinatra was one of a
group of movie personalities who were scheduled to participate in a radio broac-
cas. on November 22, TOUT, entitled tollywood Fights Back] This broadegst,
which had béer a arrénged by the Committee for the First Amendment, was part of
a program protesting the investigation of Communism in Hollywood by the HCUA.
Fhe Committee for the First Amendment was described as "a recently
created Commmnist front in the defense of Communists and Commmist fellow
travelers't in the 198 report of the California Committee on Un-American
Activities.

Sinatra was scheduled to have his picture taken with Captain Qrest
Shertaers representative in the United States for the Youth Anti+Frascist Committee ‘
in Moscow, who was then stationed at the Russian Consulate in New York City, on

On May 20, 1946, the Russian Consulate in Los Angeles was advised that
Mre and Mrs. rank Sinatra’ would not be able to attend a party at the Consulete

HOLLYWOOD STRIKE, OCTOBER, 1915
Herbert E. Sorrell, President of the Conference of Studic Unions,
called a strike on May 12, 195, in a jurisdictional fight between two AFL unions,
over Which union should represent the set decorators. This strike resulted in
considerable strife and on October 10, 1945, over 300 pickets in front of the
