Supplementing the telephonic conversation of 27 md 3B December and wrk sheet of the physical exeminet ion of Frenk A. Sinetra, the following information is submitted: ee (a) Selectes stated that at birth he sustained en injury below the left ear, presumably from the bleds of forceps. iIn his early - childhood he had several mastoid operetions and subsequently hes had : | frequent and repeated attacks of "running ear“ on the left side, the . last having occurred within the past several months. He ale stated si that he often suffered from "head noises” on the left side, an \ (>) Examination of the external ear revealed that the >. Ss lobule hed been removed and there was mich post auricular scarification, including what were probably incisionsl scare of the previously mentioned . cmastold surgery. Ths external euditory canal was narrowed and somwhat . deformed and there wes a considerable quantity of inspiseated wax pre- sent. The tympanum wes seen to contain a perforation. XeRays of the | left mastoid area revealed a "sclerozing metoiditis". (c)il puring the psychiatrio interview the patient steted thet he was ‘neurotio, afreid to be in crowds, afraid to go in elevator, , makes him feel that he would want to run when surrounded by people He | had somatic ideas and headaches and has been very nervous for fourlor - f/ five years. Wakens tired in the A.M., is run down end undernourisied', The examining psychiatriat concluded that this selectes mffered from psychoneurosis and was not acceptable material from the psychiatric viewpoint. Insemuch as the alectes was to be rejected on an organio basis, namely, (1) Perforation of left tympanum (2) Chronic mastoiditis, left, the diagnosis of psychonsuresis, severe was not added to the list. Notation of emotional instability wis mde instead.
