Other objects of the personal “equipment” of POWERS: Soviet rubles, French francs, gold watches, wedding bands. A strange cargo for a plane which wanted to reach great heights! But the secret is simple: According to the idea of the "strategic psychologists" of the United States of America, all this was destined to bribe the Soviets. Picture on page 21: The chiefs gave to the aerial pirate a special needle with a poison of fulminating action. The spy was to use it in case he was in danger of being taken prisoner. His chiefs gave POWERS the following instructions: Not in any event to fall into the hands of the Soviets! He did not prefer this command. He preferred to live. He delivered himself into the hands of the Kolkhoz inhabitants of the Ural Mountains without resistance and without the least intention of utilizing the terrible needle. Picture on page 23: Among the objects in the spy's possession was a sheet on which the national flag of the United States was imprinted and which, in various languages, requested aid to the pilot. The Soviets rendered aid to Mr. POWERS. Picture on page 24: Before irrefutable material proofs, F. H. POWERS revealed _.. .. much in his statement about his espionage role in the fulfillment of tasks of the Secret Service of the United States to gather secret data about the. USSR.
