Sinrle Finrervrint Files As en adjunct to its main fingerprint files, wherein in- pressions are classifica throush the use of all fingers considered as a unit, the Division conducts a sincle fingerprint file wherein individual impressions of known gangsters, rank rotbers, kidnapers and extortionists sre classified and filed separately, to be sus- ceptible of ready comvarison with latent prints found at the scenes of crimes. In this manner the fingerprints cf over 6,06¢ of such criminals have been so sezrerated in this svecial file. A detailed description of each of these criminals is also maintained, cross indexed on cards operated by a sorting machine system. Individual photogrephs further supplement this valuable edjunct to the Tdenti- fication Unit. Research Division The Division also maintains at Weshineton a Technical.
