attacked to which was anfarticle Wa a bad appeared in
entitled/Y. S. SIEUTHS FIGHT POLICE.
the Heap nineteenth's issue of theANCW YORK EVENING JOURNAL
In compliance with in.tructions contained dn your communica-
tion, I conferred with Mr. 4A. Spiro, City Editor of the
NEW YORK EVAIING JOURNAL and explained to him the difference
in the various investigative egencies employed by the
United States Government. He told me that he wuld issue
en order to ell of his rewrite men to specifically indicate
the branch of the service with which a Federal officer -
is connected in order to eliminate any possible misunder-
standing. He informed me, however, that no doubt shortly
after this order is issued, his rewrite men will €0 back
to using the old form. I told him that if I noticed any
similar articles appearing in the paper, I would call
them to his-attention and he informed me that I should
not hesitate in so doing and that he desired to cooperate
With this Division to the fullest extent.
