Billions squandered on unjust wars in Asia must be diverted to rebuild American cities, provide jobs, health, housing and food for its millions of poor citizens. Peace and an end to all mili- tary adventures in other peoples countries is America's first order of business. FREEDOM The PEACE AND FREEDOM PARTY supports the black liberation movement in its struggle for social justice and control of local communities, ‘“e support similar movements among Hawaiians ana other local minorities, and nation- — ally among Mexican-Americans, Indians, Puerto Ricans and other oppressed peoples. AMERICA'S CITIFS are rotten at the core, The incentive for their orig-~ inal growth was profit.for real estate, construction and other commer— cial interests. Honolulu's present "growth" is still a disease of pro~ fit-seekers. Hawaii's land omership is feudalistic and a means of don- ination by the wealthy. The PEACE AND FREEDOM PARTY raises these demands toward radical renewal of urban life: & Abolishment of absentee slum ownership. % Replacement of corrupt city-hall domination of urban affairs with local controls, residents' councils and decentralized community power. & Lemocratize land ownership and limit size of holdings, * Terni nate all further high-rise construction pending formulation of life-style demands by the psople. % Replace developer—orientea state land policies with conservationist policies. —— . AS THE CREATORS of all wealth, working people deserve better than the . crumbs they receive from the huge productive machinery of our society. The PEACE AND FREEDOM PARTY makes these immediate demands for all work- ing people: @ A mimimum of 11,160 for Hawaii's wage earners according to U. S. Department of Labor requirements for a city worker's family of four. @ Guaranteed jobs for all. @ In-service training in all branches of employment. @ Health, dental, insurance and retirement benefits for ' all workers. @ Gollective bargaiping.and upholding the right to strike for public employees. To achieve these needs, the PFACF AND FREEDOM PARTY. calls upon all workers to sever dependencies on the ola parties that have failed to require that these, elementary needs be- provided to all of. Hawaii's working people. ot . . DFCISION-MAKING POWER belongs tq university students ana faculty cowpris- ine 99% of campus people. School jenchers ana students must have a voice in power to inculcate democracy at the roots of society. Also: % Feduce student-teacher ratio to 20-to-1. # Focus the educational process on real community and national problems. * Teach the true history of the commer- cial exploitation of Hawaii ana her minority peoples. mw Create special stuay opportunities for the poor.
