Senator Fulbright (D - Arkansas) told the press just now that the vote was 14 to 5 (Senator McCarthy had stated it was 13 to 5) for increasing the membership on the CIA watchdog committee. Senator Fulbright said that Senator McCarthy offered three amendments to the resolution (attached) prior to a vote on the resolution at 10:00 this” _ morning. These amendments are numbered 1, 2 and 3 in red on the =. attached resolution. Specifically, the first amendment eliminated the phrase in the resolution "(including but not limited to the Federal Bureau of Investigation)." The second amendment has to do with section 5 of the resolution and elminated the provision the committee could employ and fix the salaries of persons working for the committee.
