A letter was received on April 3, 1968, at
the office of the National Finance Committee, McCarthy
for President, Thomas S. Page, Director, Suite 314, |
Capitol Hill Hotel, 301 First Street, N.E., Washington,
D.C. The letter was postmarked March 31, 1968, at South.
Haven, Michigan, and bore the return address ''Roland
Terrintine 72nd Covent Mich. 49090."" The letter was
addressed to "Citizens for McCarthy Washington, D.C.
20002,"
The three-page letter, hand printed in red ink
on standard, lined stenographic paper, contained ex-
tensive obscenities and a .22 caliber rifle bullet Scotch-
taped to the’ upper right-hand corner of the first page
immediately after this wording, "This will be my contri-
bution to McCarthy if he don't get his (obscenities)...
In case you don't belive I'll kill him I have a silencer
on my rifle still don't belive me? Well I'11 tell you
a silencer for a .22 will have to be excatly 8n long and
3n around and made of heavy metal casing."
The writer then included a sketch of a rifle é
barrel illustrating how acoustical packing may be used:
