New York airtel dated 5/26/58 reflected Dr. Erich Fronn was interutewed on the Mike Wallace TY program on 5/25/58. Page 19 of "The New York Times" of 5/12/58 reflected Dr. Erich Fromm, psychoanalyst and author, addressed the Labor Union Project confer- ence held at Harriman, New York. fFronm has not been previously identified with the FFR. "tho's Who," 1958-59, reflected Fromm was born in Frankfurt, Germany, March 23, 1900. He received a@ Phe D degree at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, tn 1922, and was a student and lecturer at German universities until 1932. Bufiles reflect he became a United States citizen on May 25, 1940. (40-73577) "Who's Fho," 1958-59, reflected Fromn was affiliated wtth the International Institute of Soctal Research (IISR) tn Frankfurt, Germany, 1929-32, and in New York 1934-39, — ? self-admitted forner Russian espionage agent, advised on October 17, 1950, that he studied at the Untuersity of Frankfurt, Germany, from 1924-28 and at that time the IISR "was definitely a center of left wing students, particularly communists, though by no means only communists. There were radical Marzrists who attacked the Communist Party from the lefu; there were social democrats who attacked from the right; and there were a good many politically unaffiliated students, although most of them in those years followed a Marzist approach te social and political problens." stated that in 1937 he met some of the Institute group from Frankfurt in New York where they were affiliated with the IISR at Columbia Untuersity in New York. advised he did not know Fromm to have been associated quimmay with the scholars at the IISR at Frankfurt, although Fronm was . believed to have given a series of lectures there in the early ae 1930's, QUE believed Froum was associated with the Institute in New York from 1935 to 1937 and heard that Fromm had in ° as—y.
