Speaking at- the annual city-wide observance of: Harlem Week last Sunday in New | |York City, she said the repeal of the poll tax would be of benefit “not only for the colored people but for all people.” | The two test votes in the House on Monday indicated the treatment ve bill was to receive, The first te registered 268 for and 11q ainst; the second vote register: 35 to 105. In the same speech Mrs. Roo velt called for equal justice before the law for all races, equality of opportupity, equality of employ- ment and decent living conditions, and the privilege of all citizen sto participate in government. The first lady said: “There should not be German communitics, Scan- dinavian communities, and other communities of foreign born.
