The CHICAGO SUN for May 22, 1947, contained a half-page ad spon-
sored by the United Public Workers of America, CIO, 930 F Stroet, Ne We,
“ashington, D. C. The ad was headlined "Did You Ever Think that You Are
Un-American?" The ad protested the issuance of Presidential Executive
Oruer 9855, It included quotations from persons described as "leading
Axcri¢ans” who objected to the issuance of t order and demanded its can-
cellation. Among thgse persons were FIOPSLI UARDIA, HENRY;SALLACE,
icLIP\TURRAY, ELEANOR\ROOSEVELT, and ZACSARYAN/dRAPFEDS, JR. (CHAFFEE said
many tilings, and conchiided with "No provision is made for a detailed record
of tne hearing, or for that matter, for a record of any kind. There is no
requirement that tne findings of the Loyalty Board mist be supported by the .
evidence,"
