Bureat confidential Informant ey stated
that the ‘win the War Kally sponsored by thesYoung Negro Democrats had a strong
jommunistic influence and had received endorsements from Senator CHAHLES ¢.
DICGS,\ MRS. ROSA GRAGG, WILLIAU Ie’SHentLL, Negro, and HORACE“WHITE, Negro.
Endorsements had been received for this meeting from UCPWA-vIC Lecal 663 and
from the'NAACP branches. sureau Informant further stated that it was the
scheme of the sponsors of this affair to cover up the vommunistic background
of the meeting by the use of several non-Communist sponsors.
‘the Michigan Chronicle" carried an item on August 8, 1942,
which described the tremendous interest show in the Win the War Nally. Accord-
ing to the newspaper, vice -‘President HENRY \iALLALE sent his personal endorse-
nt to the rally. An endorsement had also been received from Mrs. HLEANOK
a HOOSEVELT which stated as follows:
"TY am very much interested to hear of your Win the far rally on August | 9, 1942.
Our first major objective is to work, fight, and sacrifice for a United Nations
victory...After the victory is won we must all work for a lasting peace based
on the respect for the dignity of man the world over and justice for all.

attendance was attributed to threatening weather. The following were identi-

‘the meeting was adjourned to meet two weeks later. Lieutenant
MINDRY, according to the informant, endorsed the rally and Longressnan O'F:CEN
-rid that he also favored the freedom of India. Althouch FAUL UYKOFF was the
chairman, ‘EDDIE ‘OLAN assumed the platform in the last moment and surmarized
the results of the meeting.
