On Harch 21, 1942, Confidential Informant [of the chicago | Field Office, whose identity is known to the Bureau, was re-contactéd for additional inforuation concerning the activities the Chicago Civil Liberties Committee. Confidential Informant made avail~ able the annual report of the Chicago Civil Libertiés Committe, Inc., at 203 N. Wabash Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, by IRA LATIMER, Executive Secretary of the Comittee. The Secretary's report was as follows: "Tre Chicavo Civil Liberties Comittee grew from’ “7 ~ 1,000 members to 1,250 members during 2940, a net in- crease of 25 per cent, with a turnover of 155, Our in- come fro: dues increased by $250 to $4,912. Income from all sources was $8,224 as compared with $6,457 in 1939. This increase was chiefly due to the March 14 lecture by irs. Eleanor Roosevelt which netted $985 plus $1,198 from the souvenir progran., Other major items of income were the benefit performance of "eet The People" (3602), special contributions $255), and the sale of "Defend Civil Liberties NO" stanps ($186). Net operating expenses of the Committee increased by $575, from 06,954 (1939) to $7,529 (2940). Our flexible operating budget for 1941 anticipates an income of between $6,500: and $7,000. Our membersiip goal is 2,000 by December 1941. JANUARY = (1) Racio censorship by WGN was protested to the FCC when WiCX refused the Committee's request for time on =BS for Voorhis to answer Dies.
