It. was explained to the e Congressman that all % he ’ matters pertaining to Congressional inquiries were handled through your office and, accordingly, it was suggested that he consnlt with you ‘in- order to ascertain the Department's position in this situation. - oO In the event Congressman Holifield does contact your office, the following analysis of investigations conducted by the FBI, predicated i upon information furnished to the Attorney General by former Congressman _ : Dies on October 17, 1941, is being subaitted: ~ The original list contained the nanes of 1,221 persons described as being affiliated with “subversive creaTiastiona. x .
