HORTON also stated 3 that black youth should have equal opportunities with the white youth. MISS JUNE S. EDDY, Antioch, College, Yellow Springs, Ohio, expressed regret at the small number of negro representatives on the Panel, SAMUEL BROWN, a representative of Black Mountain College, Black Mountain, North Careclina, arose and made the following statement: "You can't win a war without a faith that something will arise out ofthe victory." I don't belive that we all understand that for which we are fighting." LILLIAN SMITH, Editor of the South Today, Clayton, Georgia, stated that there seems to be an emotional impression among students and that fighting is a matter of fecling. She said that civilized people must belicve that they are fighting for something and that inasmuch as the negrocs had Cot not experienced any participation in democracy, they could not be expected oy to cagerly fight for it. MRS. ELEANOR ROOSEVELT spoke at the morning sossion of the Pancl on Youth and Training. ’ — The afternoon session of tho Panel on Youth and Training wes presided al over by FRANK H. LEAVELL, Secretary, Southwide Baptist Students, Baptist 7 Sunday School Board, Nashville, Tennessec, Upon the opening of the afternoon 7 session, the following resolutions were proposed: “ys 1. Win the War 2. Promote Information as to the Causes of War . 3. Need of Response of Youth to War Enlistment of Student Groups for activitios in War 5.
