the Special Comuittee on Un-American Activities in a report ~ -
dated March 29, 1944, The California Committee on Un-American +
Activities in 1948 described the Exiled Writers Committee as
-an organization established by the communist League of American
Writers to bolster the communist front, the American Committee
to Save Refugees. The Exiled Writers committee was further
reported ss having worked with other communist fronts and in
1942 merged into the Joint Anti-Fascist Refugee Committee. The
United American Spanish Aid Committee has been designated
pursuant to Executive Order 10450. .

in 1944, reflected that the Artists’ Front to Win the War
made its debut at a mass meeting at Carnegie Hall, New York,
New York, on October 16, 1942, Exhibit Number 1, set out in the
report, which appears to be a program of the above-described
mass meeting, reflected Duke Ellington as one of the sponsors,
