The records of the Passport Division of the Department of State reflect that EDWARD PAUL ABBEY was issued passport number 499010 on Avugust 22, 1951, for a proposed ten month travel to England, Scotland, France and Germany to attend the University of Edinburgh on a Fulbright Scholarship. He stated in his passport : . ‘ application dated August 8, 1951, at Albuquerque, New Mexico, that — = /. he intended to depart from the port of New York by ship about ef December 15, 1951. This passport was not valid for travel to Japan, Okinawa, Czechoslovakia or Bulgaria. On his passport application the appointee listed his permanent resid as Home, Pennsylvania, amd gave his mailing address as in Of PAUL Ro YABBEY of Home, Pennsylvania, It was noted that he listed this dividual as his father who was ~6- - Lo
