June 20th, 1956 Dear Friend: There are many Americans like myself who believe that the several victims of the Smith Act now in jail or free on bail are being unjustly per- secuted for the political] and social beliefs which they honestly hold. There are other Americans who believe that these victims have endangered this nation by what they have thought and said.
