BROORLYN 2.

Dear Friend:
There are many Americans like myself who
believe that the several victims of the Smith Act
now in jail or free on bail are being unjustly per-
secuted for the political] and social beliefs which
they honestly hold. There are other Americans
who believe that these victims have endangered
this nation by what they have thought and said.
But I think that all of us can agree on one
thing, and that is that the families and children of
these persons should not be made to suffer,
Families have suffered cruelly from these arrests;
especially the children are in need of help, recrea-
tion and encouragement,
lam writing especially to ask if you will not
contribute something in support of the Families of
Smith Act Victims, which services the children
and their mothers as described in the accompany-
ing brochure, f hope you will be able and willing
