ir ™ 4 - rep nfl TIAL It is to be noted that the Joint Anti-Fascist Refugee Committee has been designated by the Attorney General as coming within the purview of Executive Order 9835. f leaflet entitled “The asued by the Committee For Cooperation With the New South. Listed on the committee is Doctor W.E.B. DU BOIS, Chairman. Cavised that the Committee For Cooperation With the New South is a Communist Party paper front organization, organized by tha Communist Party to raise funds to carry on the Communist Party work in the South. CQ advised on April 27, 1950 that the name — — a4 sept appeared on a petition to the Supreme Court of the United States for a reconsideration of its refusal to hear the appeal of the ten cited for contempt by the House Un-American Activi- tles Committee. This petition urged the court to present to the entire country a definition of constitutional guarantees. The "New York Times" dated June 10, 1950 listed the members of the Hollywood Ten and stated that they are charged with contempt of Congress for refusing to tell the House Committee on Un-Americen Activities whether they were Communists. Cc advised that the name of W.E.B. DU BOIS appeared ag a@ sponsor on the letterhead of the Committee for the Negro in the Arts. An article appearing in the March 5, 1950 issue of the “Daily Worker" reflects that the Committee for the Negro in the Arts has, for the past three years, been working for full integration of negro artists into all forms cf American culture. According to this article, . PAUL ROBESON was one of the founders of the Committee for the Negro in the Arts.
