I CERNING
With reference to the attached wire, I called Bs.
SAC Hawkins, Cleveland, and advised him that he was not to . re
conform to tne instructions suggested by the San Diego Office. sais
He was instructed to call the Prosecutor's Office and advise
the Prosecutor of the name of the individual and her willingness
to impart information which she states she possesses concerning
this matter. He is to give the Prosecutor her address and
telephone number in the event they desire to communicate with
her. He was also to confirm his conversation with the Prosecutor ——"

After completion of this action, he will advise the =
Bureau of the action which he has taken. _S
The above action is taken inasmuch as it is not deemed
desirable to furnish this information to the Judge or Defense
Attorney. (Our obligation is to advise the legally constituted
police authority and it is the responsibility of such ait authority -
to properly dispose of the matters]
SAC Hawkins stated that he objected to the suggestion” cee
of the San Diego Office as to the procedure in handling-this -- _
matter but did agree thoroughly with the Bureau in the manner in
which this should be handled, |

SAC Hawkins called to advise that at 9:55 a.m.
contacted an Assistant Prosecutin httor
Cuyahoga County, Cleveland, Ohio, and pointed out that
had what she believed pertinent Information concerning the Sheppard
case and that she would be willing to discuss it telephonically or,
if she were subpoenaed, to come to Cleveland. SAC Hawkins has.
prepared a letter confirming this and it is. being sent to. Mr. Frank T.
Cullitan, Prosecuting Attorney for Cuyahoga County. Hawkins advised
that the’ case will go to the jury tonight or tomorrow and that the
