signed this petition and among names listed was that of

hearings concerning Communism in the motion picture industry.
The “New York Daily News" of April 27, 1951,
reported that on the preceeding day a Stop Comumian— -
Committees was launched in order to ficht against “Red
Influence in the EIntertalinment World.” his Comittee |
was formed ander the auspices of J. Joseph Smith, New |
York Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the
group was to kybd a loyalty festival featuring more than /
150 movie, s ,, and telerision Bele: the day after
the loyalty parade sponsored Veterans of Foreign
Wars. Tho festival was to be held in Centrel Perk and
the stars scheduled to participate in the anti-Communist
