Your letter of May 9, 1959, has been received,
and I certainly appreciate your interest in writing. I want to
thank you for the best wishes you extended and your kind com-~-
went about this Bureau.
In response to your inquiry, Mr. D. M. Ladd
was an employse of the FBI from 1928 until he retired in
Bebruary, 1954. At the time Mr. Ladd left this Bureau, he
had the title of Assistant to the Director. We, of course, are
in no position to comment concerning his activities subsequent
